Allocating and Assigning a Job

When a job has all the information filled in it is ready to be allocated to a fleet, this can be either your own fleet or another users fleet. There are a number of ways in which a job can be allocated which will be explained below, all of these start off by opening the saved job and using the actions box at the bottom of the page. A job which has all the information saved in it but hasn't been progressed any further will be found at 'logistics' - 'quotes' - 'quoted jobs'.

Seen above is the actions box with all the available options to a 'quoted job'.

Allocating a Job

To allocate this to your own fleet select 'pool/allocate' and select your fleet out of the list. The job will now be situated in 'logistics' - 'my jobs' - 'open jobs'. To progress further from here see assigning a job at the bottom of the page. If you wish to allocate the job to another fleet there are a few options you can take.

  • A job can be allocated directly to another fleet, if already agreed, by selecting that fleet out of the dropdown list when clicking 'pool/allocate'. If the desired fleet does not appear in this list see 'networks'.
  • A job can be advertised to a closed network of trusted suppliers at a fixed price and when taken you will be notified via email and an alert on the system. To do this select the desired network from the list in 'pool/allocate', again for information on this see 'networks'
  • A job can be advertised to all CDN fleets at a fixed price using the 'pool' feature. This works in the same way as a network but the job is advertised to all fleets on the CDN who have the relevant capabilities i.e driven/transported/multi. You will again be notified if this job is taken.
  • A job can be put out without a preset price and be bid on by other trusted suppliers by selecting 'request trade bids'. You will recieve a notification each time a supplier places a bid on your movement and can select the price and transporter you wish to allocate the movement to..

Assigning a Job

(Note - if a job has not been allocated to a fleet you will NOT be able to assign it to a driver until it has been allocated to one)

Once a job has been allocated to your own fleet you will need to assign the movement to a driver. There are two types of 'drivers' you can have set up on the CDN, either as an email workforce or a mobile workforce. Email workforce is for drivers who do not use a handheld, if a job is assigned to a driver without a handheld they will recieve the job details via email and the updating of the movement must be done manually. For more on updating jobs manually see updating and tracking a job. For a mobile workforce driver when the job is assigned it will be sent to their handheld device with all the jobs details. To see how to track the progress of a job done on handheld see updating and tracking a job.

To assign a driver to the job you will need to open up the job, which should be located under 'logistics' - 'my jobs' - 'open jobs'. Under the dates and prices the journey field will appear as below. To assign a driver to a job click send and select the desired driver from the list. If the driver is only email workforce there will be a (*) next to their name. Once selected click send and the details will be sent through to the driver. If you wish you can select 'send later' and a driver will be provisionally put next to the movement, the details will only be sent through when 'send now' is selected. To continue further from this stage see updating and tracking a job.
